The Battle of Baradino took place near the village of Baradino on 7th September 1821 during Napoleon's invasion of Russia. The Grand Army of Napolean fought against General Mikhail Kutuzov of the Imperial Russian Army, but failed to gain decisive victory and suffered tremendous losses. It was the bloodiest single day of the Napoleanic wars wherein a quarter of a million soldiers fought in the battle.
